CLIMATE CHANGE COORDINATOR
The coordinator reports to the GMPO’s Programme
Director and will manage a 2 year collaborative
process that consists of multi-sectoral assessments on
climate change vulnerability in the Greater Mekong,
consultative strategy development in the region, and
the integration of results into ongoing conservation
and development agendas. Based on the assessments, the
coordinator will develop field projects and manage
other strategic efforts to build WWF’s profile and
knowledge around adaptation/resilience-building in
order to protect nature from the impacts of climate
change.
Duties and
Responsibilities

Coordinate a consultative process in the Greater Mekong to carry out the following:
-
Climate change vulnerability.
-
Mapping of terrestrial biodiversity and habitats.
-
Conduct a vulnerability assessment of projected climate impacts.
-
Ensure these assessments complement other ongoing studies and processes on climate change adaptation in the region.

Lead a multi-sectoral team of experts and representative stakeholders to identify key interventions and develop recommendations to facilitate adaptation to potential impacts of climate change.

Promote these recommendations to key governmental and inter-governmental/multi-lateral stakeholders in the region.

Assist in the development and execution of innovative new conservation approaches towards adaptation to Climate Change.

Assume role as WWF’s technical focal point for Climate Change in the Greater Mekong.

Run internal workshops for raising awareness and knowledge with Greater Mekong Management on Climate Change.

In coordination with the WWF Communications staff develop a focused communications approach towards the selected target.
Main
qualifications and skills required
-
A graduate degree in a relevant field is required.
-
Minimum of five years of work experience in climate change science.

Sound knowledge of conservation would be a big advantage.

Strong, persuasive communicator, in person and in writing

Proven ability to work with scientists, government staff and funding agencies

Ability to bring together and lead large multi-sectoral teams

Demonstrated knowledge of proposal development

Excellent organizational and team management skills
Duty Station:
WWF Greater Mekong office in Bangkok, Thailand.
Contract duration:
2 years
