"Climategate" - NOAA Scientists Exonerated from
Falsifying Results
An investigation by the the US Department of
Commerce, has concluded that there is no evidence of wrong doing on the
part of climate change scientists/researchers of the US National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) whose e-mails were leaked in the debate
over climate change.
On or about November 17,2009, there was a computer hacking incident which
led to the stealing and publishing, on the internet, of several e-mail exchanges, on climate
change data, between researchers at the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at
England's University of East Anglia and many of the world's leading
climate scientists, including employees of the US National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Climate change sceptics alleged that
some of the e-mails as suggested climate scientists and researchers did
not follow proper procedures in the conduct of their research and that
they altered altered data to support their claim that man is causing
climate change and the warming up of the planet (global warming).
The Department of Commerce reviewed all the 1,073 leaded e-mails,
primarily focusing on the 289 e-mails that involved the NOAA scientists
and conducted interviews with relevant individuals that have been involved
in the operations of NOAA for the 13 years period (1996 to 2009) over
which the subject e-mail communications took place between various world
scientists and CRU.
This report is the latest to prove that the claims of climate change
skeptics that scientists falsified the results of their research to
support global warming caused by human activity. Previous investigations
by other groups in England, the US National Research Council, and the
Pennsylvania State University in the United States have also concluded
that there was no indication of scientific impropriety.
