Transportation for Sustainability: An International Conference

From May 7, 2015 to May 8, 2015


This meeting, supported by the Transportation Research Board of the US National Academies, will bring together representatives from government, the private sector, academia, business and non-profit organizations to examine and promote holistic sustainability approaches to transportation, combining all pillars of sustainable development and addressing present and future needs. The meeting will also stimulate debate on how to realize this view in practice and in research; and examine ways to institutionalize sustainable practices globally. The agenda will include technical discussions on sustainability concepts, tools and practices and plenary sessions. Specific issues the conference will address include: international and cross-border challenges and initiatives related to incorporating sustainability into transportation, including sustainability issues in air travel and marine travel; policies, programmes, projects and institutional approaches; case studies, including national, state and local sustainability strategies and policies; and assessment, monitoring and evaluation.
