Powering Africa: Nigeria 2015
From Sep 14, 2015 to Sep 15, 2015
Powering Africa: Nigeria 2015 September 14-15, 2015
As we await the announcement of Nigeria’s new Government office on March 28th, the power sector is expected to be amongst the first priorities of the new Government, with its interface with the private sector also expected to be sealed rapidly.
Powering Africa Nigeria 2015 will be the platform to discuss market developments with progress and clarity, on structured finance, development finance and private equity for Nigeria’s power sector. The meeting positions the new Government office to discuss post-elections plans with private sector owners, developers, local and global financiers.
The programme will feature interactive dialogue between Gencos and Discos, private sector banks, multilateral investors and DFIs, government and IPP developers to discuss the changing investment landscape placing the critical role of the private sector at the heart of the agenda. The platform will showcase the vast opportunities that await investment in Nigeria’s power sector as well as offer solutions to overcome financial challenges, deliverables and risks that will ensure the reliability of supply for the country.
Overview of the sector
It is expected that Nigeria will become the largest IPP market in Africa. As the country aims to boost its capacity to 20,000MW by 2020 based upon the current pipeline of projects, much of this production is anticipated to come through IPPs and small power projects that are also looking to consolidate their positions in the post-reform market. The meeting will explore different financing models to support market developments and power projects, as well as feature case studies of live projects led by implementers and their partners.
