Clean your light bulbs and fixtures regularly

Dusts build up can reduce the light intensity of your bulbs or light fixtures by close to 25%. With the reduced intensity, more lightings (more bulbs and fixtures) will be required to keep up the brightness of lited spaces. The additional lightings will lead to higher energy bill. However, cleaning the bulbs and fixtures regularly will sustain the initial brightness and ensure that there is no need to purchase new bulbs and fixtures.

The cleaning of light fixtures should be carried out when all lights are completely turned off and allowed to cool down to avoid the risk of burns or shock. The lights can be off at the circuit breaker.

Clean your light bulbs by simply wiping them off with a soft, dry cloth. Fluorescent tubes can be cleaned with damp cloth. Some fixtures will require the use of a ladder to access them for cleaning.
